| or whatever that song says. i've been sick the last few days with some evil flu thing. yesterday was the worst day for sure, and today i think i might be getting better. i may actually live. no, it hasn't been that bad, but i think i feel worse about it because it's been awhile since i've really been sick. the good news is that although my mom isn't here to take care of me, my husband has been doing a great job. he bought me cough drops, cough syrup, and lipton's chicken noodle soup (my favourite). last night when he got home from work he did all the dishes and cleaned the kitchen--even the big mess i made in the microwave! i don't know why, but for some reason it really bugs me when i have a dirty kitchen. everywhere else i've lived it hasn't bugged me as much as here. maybe because it's "mine"? anyway, i was very grateful that he cleaned it, especially since he doesn't like doing it. today he took my paper in to school for me, and i'm skipping work... so now all i have to do is rest and study (and blow my nose). i have a nerve-wracking test on monday that i haven't really studied for yet. gulp. part of it includes all the blood vessels in the body, which i always try to avoid because there's about 3 billion of them. but, this too shall pass and hopefully i'll be able to learn them.

| for some reason i haven't been in the mood to update. last week was a very hectic week; i had three exams the week back from spring break! how ridiculous. but they went well... or at least two out of three did and we'll see about the third tomorrow. this past weekend was soooo nice to just relax! we barely did anything friday night or all day saturday, except for saturday night. that night we went to a murder mystery party. it was quite a lot of fun to see everyone dressed up as someone else and pretending to all have some kind of grudge against each other. we had appetizers and desserts that the guys made. my dear jose made a chocolate (wacky) cake and (anna mae's) icing. let's just say that the (ahem) icing turned out well. us women voted on best dessert, and jose's got the award "saltiest dessert." you can look at his blog to find out why. poor guy. but, it was his first attempt at baking and he did pretty well.
i'm excited to say that i've gotten to know someone from croatia, and that we'll probably be going on a double-date with her and her husband. it's interesting to me that all of us "foreigners" congregated at the same table in my math class. so we've been getting to know each other and i hope we'll keep up our friendship. she always thinks it's so neat that i volunteer at church, but i found it interesting that when i mentioned that she was welcome to come check it out this wall just went right up. so we'll see what happens. if you think of her you can pray that her heart would be open to what God has for her. her name is daniella.
hope everyone had a good monday!

| well, if you've been to jose's blog already you'll know that kirk and karla were here for the weekend and we had a good time with them. now, on to food: on friday night we had a creamy-indian-shrimp-curry-coconut-dish over rice, which turned out really well... not because i made it, but because it's just darn good. we also had a salad and i made cheesecake with fruit topping for dessert. on saturday we spent most of the day driving around, hiking, laying in the sun, and in the afternoon we went to in-n'-out. yum! we all rested and then went to the pool in the evening, so we ended up not eating till about 9:00. i had marinated chicken breasts for over 24 hours in a recipe i found, so while the boys were grilling them karla and i made guacamole and i baked potato wedges. oh, and karla had made sweet tea that morning so we saved it till then. we ate outside on the porch to eat and the weather was perfect. what a lovely evening. other than that i didn't make too much else, although i guess i made pumpkin muffins on sunday morning. we went to pei wei last night which is always a treat. sadly we had to say good-bye to kirk and karla this morning, but nevertheless... it was a good weekend.
